Hey all! It's been a while since my last post, so I figured I should take a few minutes for some quick updates.
Christmas break was wonderful. I loved going home to spend time with my family and friends. I got the chance to see some wonderful people whom I missed very much. I made a few trips to Atlanta to see old coworkers as well as college friends. A large chunk of my time on the East Coast was spent in Alpharetta watching football bowl games. I wouldn't have had it any other way. It's amazing how much I enjoy football at normal hours...not at odd early morning hours like in Hawaii. I know I didn't have time to see everyone I would have liked, but I will be back in the summer.
This semester I started a new job. I am thoroughly enjoying being employed again. It's nice to be adding money to my account instead of only withdrawing. I missed having coworkers, and I am blessed to be working with some wonderful people. I look forward to spending many more hours working this semester.
Academically, this semester seems as though it will be easier than the fall. I am taking three classes, which is a full load for a grad student. The trick is balancing school, work, and progressing on my thesis. I am in the process of picking my thesis chair as well as choosing my committee. I hope to finish my thesis proposal in March, defend my proposal in April, apply and receive permission to collect data on human participants in May, and begin research in June. Time is flying by! I cannot believe how many hours I have spent already on just my first two chapters. This week alone I am completely restructuring my second chapter to better fit my research problem.
I am looking to enjoy this semester as well, when I am not doing homework on the weekend I hope to hike a few trails, jump off some waterfalls, and perhaps get back on a longboard. I can't wait to see what this semester holds, but I know it's going to (literally) be rainbows and sunshine ;)
